Brooks England was established in 1866. It is a brand, famous for making high quality leather bags for motor cyclists. John Boultbee Brooks was the pioneer of the company who founded it with great principles and ambitions but had only a very small start up investment of £20. He started his workshop in Birmingham, England under the name of JB Brooks & Co. In 1878, Brooks died but his principles were entrenched in the company which the company ensured have been carried through and are enshrined in the ethos of the company today.
Professional skills have been passed down from one generation of employees to another.. In 1962 the company’s new head quarters were relocated to the West Midlands however not too far from their original location.
His inspiration came all of a sudden when one day he was sitting on a bicycle and he found the seat very uncomfortable and decided to make seats to ensure users of the bicycle were both comfortable and safe. It was expensive at that time to use horses for traveling and people preferred bicycles.
The first saddle was made by the company and was immediately loved by cyclists because of the level of comfort and material quality applied to it. It was hand made using fine quality leather.
