Socks have become much more than an item of clothing that keeps the cold out. Here at iconsume we don’t think that socks have to be dull, they can be bright and exciting. An interesting, colourful pair of socks can brighten up the dullest of mornings. We therefore offer a number of socks that are colourful, bright and reasonably priced. Socks have been around for almost three thousand years, and were worn in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. The first socks were made out of animal hair. The name 'sock' comes from the Latin name "soccus". By the late 16th Century knitting machines could be used to make socks, and they were much faster than making them by hand. Today cotton is one of the most popular materials for making socks. Did you know that the foot can produce almost half a litre of sweat per day? That's why it's important to wear coloured socks that absorb the extra moisture and allow it to evaporate, keeping the foot warm and dry. At the other end of the spectrum, funky socks are extremely important to keep our feet warm in colder climates.
Happy Socks was founded in Sweden in Spring 2008 by Viktor Tell and Mikael Söderlindh. Viktor is the Creative Director and Mikael is the CEO. Viktor had previous experience in fashion whereas Mikael had a decade of experience in the advertising industry. The two men were good friends before they started this journey, and their healthy business relationship has produced some amazing, unique designs. It is called Happy Socks because the idea was to make people happy by designing colourful, well-made socks. Happy socks also produce tights for women. In their short existence, Happy Socks have already had a number of high profile collaborations with companies that include Barneys in New York, Be@rbrick and Globetrotter. The brand continues to grow in popularity.
