Medicom Toy is a Japanese toy manufacturer that has been making toys since 1996. The main market for these toys is adults rather than children. Most people tend to see these toys as collectables and art rather than just toys. This is because many of them are relatively expensive and are produced in limited numbers. Today the brand has diversified, and although it’s main products are still toys, it also produces a number of interesting phone cases. There are six different parts that make up the Medicom toy company: Project 1/6, Be@rbrick (perhaps its most famous line), Medicom Toy Life Entertainment, Original Fake, Adamite and Perfect-Studio.
Medicom Toy company sells many different variations of the Bearbrick (Be@rbrick) toys. This name comes from a combination of two words: Bear and Kubrick (not the filmmaker!). A Kubrick toy originated from the Medicom company, and basically refers to a human sort of shape. Bearbrick combines this human shape with a head and ears that better resemble a bear. The first Bearbrick toy was released in May 2001. These toys have continued to gain popularity and are still produced by Medicom Toy today. There are many different variations of the Bearbrick toy.
Medicom has collaborated with famous designers such as Vivienne Westwood, and they have created toys that were designed by well-known artists and illustrators. They have also made Bearbrick toys from some of the biggest films of recent times, including films adapted from comic books such as Iron Man and Batman.
The toys come in a variety of different sizes, shapes and styles. Many Medicom toys have become collector’s items. The different sizes available include 100% (seven centimetres) 400% (twenty-eight centimetres) and 1000% (seventy centimetres). There are a number of other sizes, but these are the most common. Undoubtedly Medicom Toys will continue to produce their cool and quirky toys, and bring many different toys to the market over the coming years.
